AEP Foundation and UF Partner to Provide New Scholarships

For many years, the University of Findlay and American Electric Power have enjoyed a collaborative relationship that has helped countless students earn their degrees. Most recently, three scholarships between the AEP Foundation and UF were created that will provide much-needed aid to students pursuing rewarding, service-oriented careers. The AEP Foundation contributed $500,000.

The scholarships include:

• The American Electric Power Foundation Endowed Scholarship in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math/medicine) Education Fund, which will go to a student who is enrolled in accounting or finance or any programs in the College of Health Professions, College of Pharmacy or College of Sciences;

• The American Electric Power Foundation Findlay Forward Scholarship for Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability, which will impact eight to 15 students annually over five years; and

• The Business Affiliates Scholarship program provides critical financial support to UF students with financial need who either graduated from a Hancock County high school or who are currently employed by a Hancock County business.

According to Karen George, UF’s senior director of advancement, all three scholarships will have immense benefits to the students who receive them.

“The Business Affiliates scholarship has already had an immediate impact,” George explained. “We’ve overshot our goal, and have been able to add on four additional scholarships. It’s just fantastic. We’re so fortunate to create these possibilities together.”
